Broadband light, not a laser

BBL HERO is Sciton's high-energy broadband light platform. Broadband light delivers a range of wavelengths that target specific chromophores in the skin, melanin for brown pigment and hemoglobin for red vascular pigment, while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected.

What HERO adds

The HERO configuration delivers energy faster and with better cooling than earlier BBL platforms. That means larger treatment areas, full face, neck, chest, arms, hands, or back, in a single appointment, and better patient comfort at effective energy levels.

Course and pairing

A typical course is three to five sessions spaced monthly, then annual maintenance. BBL HERO does not treat texture the way HALO or Helix CO2 does, so patients with combined pigment and texture concerns often pair the two.

The session itself

Session length is thirty to sixty minutes depending on the area treated. Sensation is a series of brief bright flashes with a rubber-band snap feeling per pulse. Integrated cooling keeps it comfortable; most patients do not need topical numbing.

What happens to your spots

Skin is slightly warm and pink for a few hours to a day. Treated brown spots darken over the first three to five days and then lift off with the top layer of skin over the following week. There is no visible peeling, but pigment shedding is normal.

Course and aftercare

Three to five sessions spaced monthly for pigment or diffuse redness. Annual maintenance holds the correction. Aftercare is straightforward: sunscreen, gentle skincare for a week, no exfoliating actives until pigment shedding completes.
